Norwegian Getaway To Feature First Grammy Experience At Sea

Norwegian Cruise Line (NASDAQ:NCLH) announced today that it has partnered with The Recording Academy® to feature the first GRAMMY® Experience at sea onboard its newest ship, Norwegian Getaway, set to launch in February 2014. As part of the partnership, Norwegian Cruise Line has been named “Official Cruise Line Partner of the GRAMMY Awards®.” In addition, the companies will partner on the first GRAMMY-themed cruise that is scheduled to set sail in the fall of 2014.

The GRAMMY Experience will be located on Deck 8 on Norwegian Getaway and will feature artifacts chosen and curated by the GRAMMY Museum® at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. In the evenings, the venue will feature live performances by past GRAMMY winners and nominees, among others.

“Partnering with The Recording Academy and its prestigious GRAMMY Awards to bring the first GRAMMY-branded experience at sea on board Norwegian Getaway is a huge coup for us as we continue to innovate with entertainment,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Chief Executive Officer. “This GRAMMY venue with nightly performance by top-notch musicians elevates the offerings on Norwegian Getaway to a whole new level.”

“The Recording Academy is always looking for unique ways to elevate the GRAMMY brand and extend the GRAMMY experience throughout the year,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “This new partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line allows us to continue expanding our brand’s reach globally and bring new forms of GRAMMY-themed entertainment to music fans everywhere. We couldn’t be more pleased with this new alliance between one of the leading cruise lines and one of the most credible and recognized brands in music.”

More details regarding the GRAMMY Experience venue, performances and the GRAMMY theme cruise will be revealed in the coming months.

Currently under construction at MEYER WERFT in Germany, the 4,000 passenger Norwegian Getaway will be the largest ship to homeport year-round in Miami. The ship represents an opportunity for the Norwegian guest to “get away” from the routine of work, school, and daily stress, and find a true respite at sea that reflects the energy and culture that Miami is known for worldwide. Norwegian Getaway’s hull artwork was designed by popular Miami modern artist and muralist David “LEBO” Le Batard.

To date, the company has revealed the ship’s groundbreaking design, including an open-air boardwalk, The Waterfront, and 678 Ocean Place; a wide range of indoor and outdoor venues on three dynamic decks that will create a whole new complex at sea that enhances guests’ connection with the ocean. Celebrity Chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian will also create and oversee the opening of his seafood restaurant, Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian.

The ship will feature a rich mix of stateroom options, including The Haven by Norwegian, comprised of 42 Suites at the top of the ship in an exclusive, private key-card enclave and 22 additional Suites located throughout the ship; the innovative Studios, designed and priced for solo travelers; a wide range of Oceanview staterooms, Balcony and Mini-Suites; along with Spa Balcony, Mini-Suites and Suites in close proximity to the spa. Norwegian Getaway’s sister ship, Norwegian Breakaway, will begin sailing from her year-round home port of New York City in May 2013.

Norwegian Getaway will sail seven-day cruises from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean beginning on February 1, 2014, with ports of call including Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Nassau, Bahamas. Information on Norwegian Getaway’s accommodations and itinerary can be found at www.getaway.ncl.com. December 2011 Evangel Christmas Celebration

2011 Disney Dream Cruise

For a fun filled but relaxing quality vacation the Disney Bahamas Cruise is by far one of the best vacation options! I have to admit the price is a little intimidating however it is worth every dollar. There is something for everyone ... from the large split bathroom in your stateroom to accommodate your party, to the nightly musicals with pyrotechnics, to the adult only areas (of which there are several) not to mention the excellent cuisine. I have to say I'm a little prejudice I've been on the Disney cruise four times. On none of those occasions have I've taken my five year old son. I usually travel with a group of adults. So when I say there is something for everyone I mean that with the utmost honesty.

That special Disney touch can be seen in the attention to detail through out the ship's decor and design. Each area has a special theme and is carried out with intricate care including the adult areas such as the spa and reservation only restaurants. On the new Disney Dream there are two adult only restaurants with bottle service offering French and Italian cuisine and several bar/lounges. Adults also have there on pool area which is very relaxing and secluded. The Disney staff does a great job of ensuring that all the guest in the adult only areas are of age.

However, while your relaxing ... your kids are having the time of lives!!! On the Disney Dream there is so many things for them to explore. Disney offers complimentary child care services for most youth activities. All you have to do is register your child and make sure you drop him/her off on time. All the activities are age approximate and the trained staff is excellent. There are even activities for your teenagers on the Dream as well. Also for your added comfort each stateroom has two on board cellular phones to keep you in contact with your family as you explore the Dream. But while your doing all this exploring don't forget to ride the AQUA DUCK!!!

Each night you will dine in one of Disney's three different restaurants each with it own unique theme. The food is excellent but the presentation and service makes it just that more delicious. Disney offers complimentary juice and soda service as part of it's complimentary dining plan. Before or after dinner you can enjoy either a Disney Broadway spectacular in the two level theater or a top billed movie still in threaters in the large 3D movie threater.

As with all cruises Disney too offers excursions while in the Bahamas however no other cruise lines offers a stop at Castaway Cay! This water adventure play land offers all types of activities for a wonderful day at the beach. Not to mention the BBQ .... I could go on and on about the Disney Cruise but my best advise to you is to visit the Disney Cruise Line website and then call or email me at Distinct Destination with specific questions. As Captain Mickey says, "see you real soon." Call your professional travel agent today, Nicole Maddox, 215.224.0100
